Santa Monica released one of the best games of the God of War series, God of War Ragnarok, which was released on November 9, 2022. The game is based on the god killer Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. This game sells its 5 million units in 1 week, and the total unit sold till now is 12 million. In 1 or 2 years, it will break the God of War 4 record. It has earned many awards in a year, like the award for best game performance. When I was at the loading screen of the game, 1 question was roaming to my mind, whether the game would be as to my liking or if its story will be sad or happy. When 1 played the game for 1 or 2 hours, I loved this game. Yea, but it was not much at God of War 4, but still very close to it.

It will be like those games that I love to play. So that is why, in today's blog, I will tell you every detail you should know before buying God Of War Ragnarok. Before buying God OF War Ragnarok, I will give you every point you need to know. So let's get started.

Graphics and Detailing

This game has the best graphics so far in the God of War series. It's like you are really walking in the game. This game is a master class in graphics and detailing. This game is targeting a 1920x1080 resolution on the standard PlayStation 4. The image appears generally clear because the resolution is fixed at 1080p without using a DRS (Dynamic Resolution Scaler). Sadly the game doesn't use advanced global illumination techniques like ray tracing in its lighting features. Because there is no ray tracing feature, it makes me a little upset.

In this game, you have two options for graphics. Both have their own effect on pictures, the one in favor of performance and the other in favor of quality. God of War Ragnarok, default graphics, favor performance, employ dynamic resolution scaling with a minimum resolution of 1440p and a maximum resolution of 2160p and runs at a locked frame rate of 60 fps. Meanwhile, the other option, Favour quality, enables native 4K (also known as 2160p) at a fixed 30 frames per second. So one is for better Fps and the other for better graphics and detailing.

Talking about detailing in the game, this time, the game is more detailed than its old game God of War 4. The best clear is in the Kratos. You can probably see that when Odin and Thor came to Kratos's house, then,,,,,,,,,,, Kratos became a little nervous because Kratos killed Odin's Son Baulder, so the animators also showed Kratos little fear. Another important detail is when you walk on sand and snow or water, the Kratos will cover it up like rolling on sand or ice then Kratos's body will be filled with it. These detail and graphics made the game so fun to play and enjoyable. Graphic and detailing-wise, the game is excellent. I would give its pictures and detailing a 9/10 1 number cut because of the no Raytracing feature.

Story Recap of God of War 4

I will tell you a story recap of God of War 4 for new players and those who played this game long ago and forgot its story. So it's the time of the death of Kratos's wife. Kratos and Atreus gathered wood to burn his wife's grave. They cut those trees on which Faye has put his hands. By putting her hands on it, the tree gets powerful, and no creature can enter the boundaries of Kratos's house, but because he cut the trees now, animals can come in. Then a person named Stranger came and told Kratos to come out and fight. They fought, but Kratos won

. Then Kratos knew that the house was no safer for them, so they started their journey to the tallest realms of the nine realms to spread his wife, Ashes. While they were going, they saw a witch who was some sort of guide with them. While on our way to the tallest mountain, the Stranger was with Thor's son torturing an old man. When they left, we asked the old man who are you, and he said I am the most intelligent man alive he requested to cut his head and speak to the witch of the wood to revive his head. We did as he said, and it worked, so he is now our information guider. After a moment, Thor's sons came to kill us, but we managed to kill him. Which is gonna affect the new game.

The realm had no entry because it was at the tallest mountain, so they finally figured to make a magical door to the tallest mountain, but the Stranger came and kidnapped Atreus on a dragon, but Kratos passed to escape his son from the Stranger. Then we learned that the Stranger was Freya's son ( witch of the wood/ our partner ), and the Stranger's name was Boulder. So they again start their journey and find another way, but Boulder comes to fight them. Freya was also supporting him, so it was hard to defeat, but Kratos defeated him, and Freya just left holding his son. Then finally, we find a way to the tallest mountain of all of the realm, and they both spread the ashes, and it was the end of the God of War 4.

Story of God of War Ragnarok

So a couple of years later, the event of the journey. Kratos was sitting sadly in the cave missing his wife Faye, and Atreus showed up saying that the hunting was done and we were ready to go. He started his sled dog cart and journey home, but suddenly Freya appeared. She still wanted to kill us. We managed to escape him, but he hurt Kratos a little bit. Then we reached home, where we saw the death of Atreus Wolf's pet. Atreus told Kratos to go home and rest, and he went from grave to grave, his pet. Hours ago, but Atreus didn't come back. He went outside and started Atreus searching an area where we saw a bear and battled it.

When defeated, he becomes Atreus, meaning Atreus can transform into a bear. Then they come home, and Thor and Odin suddenly offer Kratos a fake piece, but Kratos rejects it. Thor and Kratos fight. At the moment, Kratos dies, but Thor revives him, and then they battle again, and Thor loses and runs away. Then Brok appeared and said that Sindri and Atreus were waiting. Odin also told Kratos that Ragnarok was coming. So he took Mimir and went on the journey to Brok's house, where they first decided to free Tyr from Odin. They released him and told him to lead the war, but he said I could and would only say the plan. Atreus secretly visit Freya to invite him to fight, but he rejects. Then Atreus dreamt in his mind to know the history of Giants, and he goes to the Iron Wood, where he knows everything about him and sees in a picture that Kratos would die. A girl named Angrboda showed me all these things, and then after a few hours, he came home, and Kratos asked him where we were, but he said I was sleeping just.

Then Atreus secretly traveled to Freya's home, and there Odin birds came to pick him up and went to Odin Island, where he first climbed a great wall. Then a bully man, Heimdal, starts fighting with Atreus, but Thor comes and saves him by saying he is our guest. Then Thor takes Atreus, where Odin tells him to find Loki's mask, and Thor and Atreus get Odin, the half-Loki piece. When Atreus was going back home, Kratos was hiding there and said Atreus, where were you Atreus again said to lie at this Kratos said don't like then suddenly an attack came from the front. Then Kratos defeated him and saw that he was Freya, and after defeating Freya, Kratos convinced Freya, and now Freya is again our friend.

At home, Atreus fight with his father, saying I am saving him, and runs away to Odin and fight the other piece with Thor. Meanwhile, Freya and Kratos enter shrines and find a way to Odin Island. Odin said to atreAtreuswear the mask and find out his past, but Atreus said not now, and he returned back home. Kratos came to know that Heimdall was gonna kill Atreus if he didn't kill him, but this could lead to war Kratos had to do it for his son. He killed Heimdall and started a war. Atreus steals the mask from Odin and brings it home, but Tyr says to give me. Brok says why do you need it? Tyr shows his reality that he is Odin, but he still needs to get the mask successfully. Now Atreus is against Odin. Now we came to know that Freya's brother and his troop were in trouble so we went to save them and then by magic a boat came on which we sat, and it started flying into the air, but the air dragon came and one of the best more solid sacrifice his life for us but we save the other. Everyone is so sad about him, especially Freya's brother.

Now Kratos went to the magma realm to turn on Ragnarok, and he did it. At final, they gather Freya's family members to fight at war. Now they travel to Asgard ( Odin's Island ), where a battle was started. The World Sement is fighting with Thor and Kratos, and Atreus gets into the castle with the help of Sindri. First, he defeated Thor, then beat him, but he managed to escape and again offered Atreus to wear the mask and left his father, but Atreus broke the front and stood with his father. They fight again and again, defeating him. But Ragnarok came at the wrong time, and Freya's brother sacrificed his life at the right time Angrboda opened the realm to home, and they all got saved, so this was the story of God of War Ragnarok. In the end, we saw that all the events were written on the back of the shrine, and Atreus took permission to go with Anaboda to find his past and collect giants Tokken and Kratos, and Freya went to rebuild the area.

Weapon and Armoury

I love the Kratos Axe. It's one of the best weapons in the whole game. It was given to Kratos by his wife, Faye. In God of War (2018), the Leviathan Axe is introduced as Kratos' primary weapon throughout the Norse Era. The Axe was given to the Guardian before she later presented it to Kratos before she passed away. It was specially created by the blacksmiths Brok and Sindri to combat the strength of Mjölnir. Kratos decided to leave using the Blade of Chaos for a long time, but when his son was sick, he had to use it. Game Dev has worked hard with this Axe. This Axe is best for killing magma creatures. In this game, the Axe has been improved. You can frost Axe and then throw it, so it will cause double damage. You can also throw the frost axe the animation of throwing the Axe are also different from usual.

The Kratos personal old weapon, the weapon which is cursed with him and will be with him forever. The blade of Chaos, The god killing weapon, was started by the God of War when Atreus got sick, and he had to travel to Helhium to bring a monster heart. Kratos ignored that because he knew these blades were the only weapon that could save his son's life. These are weapons that give the Kratos a badass vibe. This weapon is mainly used to kill creatures coming into a group. A swing of it will damage all the animals near them. It's great for small, health creature.

The 3rd weapon of the God of War Ragnarok is the one that was given by an underwater fairy, a spear. Kratos wants this spear to kill Heimdall. Heimdall is the bodyguard of Odin. He is so much fast that no one can even punch him. Kratos, too, spent 3 attempts to beat him, but he couldn't. So that is why this weapon was so much useful this time. This weapon has small things which stun the enemy. The more you throw the small stuff, the more the person will be stunned. It's good for boss fights, but killing creatures is not worth it. To make the weapon, Sindri gave a microbot type of thing to Kratos and said to him to give this thing to the Fairy. Sindri wants to come with us because he doesn't wish Brok to know that he was killed before, and Sindri revived him, but Brok says you just sit at home guarding them. This weapon is an average weapon. I like Blade of Chaos more than this weapon, but how you play this game is up to you.

There is much armor in God of War Ragnarok. Each armor has it is advantages and disadvantages. Kratos also has a default armor, but it's just better than nothing. At the start, we buy armor from Brok and Sindri. But when Brok dies, then we believe Lunda. She is from the Freya family. Many people do not love Lunda, but game developers can't do anything because it is part of the game's story. The best armor in God of War Ragnarok is Surtr's Scorched set. It is considered one of the best armor in the game. I have also learned that it is the best armor. The best armor was Berserker Armor, but. So these were the weapon and Armoury of God of War Ragnarok.

Our second protagonist also has an impressive weapon. He has a bow. On that bow, he can perform heavy runic attacks too. The bow can be upgraded too. Atreus' mother crafted the longbow from yew wood and taught him how to wield it during their practice hunts. For him to grow into it, she made it more significant than usual. It is used in conjunction with an arrow quiver. In God of War 4, On his journey to the tallest mountain, a witch named Freya gives a hera a bow after adding a magical sting. It can be infused with Alfheim's light to show its arrows that light, which helps awaken the Elves. Later on, many other friends of Atreus gave him various abilities to its bow.

Combat

Every weapon has its own combo technique. These combos can be unlocked by the skill menu by redeeming the gold. Gold can be obtained complete different quests and in vases. The latest God of War Ragnarok behind-the-scenes featurette focuses on combat and opponent design. "Our design philosophy for creating new and memorable enemies is basically making them a combat puzzle, similar to like chess and focusing on the chess pieces," says combat designer Stephen Oyarijivbie. Each object has a distinct purpose and a distinct theme. Like Kratos, Axe has different combat. As you click the button, the action will perform. God of War Ragnarok has more than 20 combat techniques. Learning these combat will also take time, like when you are on half of the game. Explore Side mission

God of War Ragnarok is filled with many side missions and quests. These missions are so fun to do. You will receive Favours, or side missions, from characters throughout God of War Ragnarok's locations. To receive exclusive goodies like armor, complete these extra quests. Some even significantly affect optional areas. The best side mission is the valkyries one. In God of War 4, there was also a Valkyrie queen to kill in the Valkriyes area. The queen is so tough to defeat. Many players spend many attempts to kill it, but they would usually fail. What made it problematic was that it had a lot of hp; she had so many combats skill, and there was no checkpoint in the battle; it like if she was about to die and she lost, so she started from the very beginning again. There are also many quests like Muspelheim Side Quests, Nine Realms Side Quests, and Epilogue Side Quests. I have yet to try all because there are so many. Some may have seen randomly, like outside Broke's house, an animal who wants help.

Gameplay

After the God of War 4, the relationship between father and son got stronger. It's evident that both characters still have much to learn and develop between themselves as they strive to deal with the more challenging aspects of the world and as Atreus approaches adolescence. The characteristic of Atreus is given mature as the God of War 4; Atreus was acting like a fool. As in this game, I have observed that Atreus is trying to get his father's trust, but as you know, Kratos doesn't trust anyone easily. In this game, Kratos is trying to protect his son from danger, but he can't, and at a time, they fight with each other Atreus leaves his home, but it is for some time.

Like God of War 4, Kratos is still fighting with his past. Sometimes he talks with Faye about his son Atreus. This time he hasn't seen his first wife like the God of War 4. In this game, everyone has observed that Kratos is now getting old because the way he climbs the wall and fights is different from God of War 4. The game starting was very dark like Kratos was suffering from depression. The weather is also giving a vibe of depression and sadness. Even though I can't long play this game like the other game, I can continuously play for 7 or 8 hours; I can't play this game for more than 2 or 3 hours. My friend didn't play this game because of the gloomy weather. He gave a bad review of this game. The sadness lasts 2 or 3 hours, then the gameplay becomes intense and thrilling.

Whereas the Atreus is always trying to become trusty for Kratos and trying to do that work by which he can make Kratos proud, like showing the shrines at the start of the game to Kratos. That is how he can make shrines become a secret room and many more. But in some way, I miss the old Atreus. The Joker and Fool Atreus, and I know many will also remember the old Atreus. Atreus have two wish that he wants to happen. One is to make his father proud, and the other is to know the giant's past, who he was, and how the giant came, and in the end, he goes with Angrboda to fight these things.

First time in the God of War series, we have two characters to play with. One is our old and main protagonist, the Badass Kratos, and for the first time in the history of God of War, our second protagonist is Atreus. The developers introduced a different skill section for Atreus. I personally use Atreus's techniques.

So these were the must-told character because there are so many characters, but those are not important as these. Some of these characters will meet you at the start, and some of them in the mid.

Why is God of War Ragnarok good?

Excellently executed with remarkable technical skill, intensely compelling interpersonal drama, and highly entertaining warfare. The use of powerful weapons and combat, which keep the game exciting, and the new creature and difficulty increased are that things made the good. The story also gives a good vibe and some lessons to a teenager, making the game much better. The incoming new characters are also so interesting to see which is the best thing in the game. The graphic is also good and to the player's liking. Just the raytracing feature is missing, which disappoints me hardly. The game is also available for ps4, so Ps4 users enjoy the last round of God of War on Ps4. One last thing, which is one of my favorite things, is the puzzle of these games is so much tricky, and it gives happiness when you successfully do it.

Price

This legendary game cost 60$ which is pretty much simple as the other new game; its cross-gen version cost 70$ (cross-gen means both Ps4 and Ps5 ), and the Duplex edition cost of 80$, which includes cross-gen play, badass Parkdale armor, Darkdale art ties cosmetic, Parkdale axe grip, Parkdale blades handle, Darkhorse digital art book, official digital soundtrack and Ps network avatar for an account. The duplex edition is good. I bought the cross-gen edition because I have to test the game on both devices. Which I recommend for bloggers or Youtuber. But the primary choice is up to you. There is also a trial version for those who have bought Ps Plus premium. The trial time is for 6 hours.

Is God of War Ragnarok Worth It?

Yes, it is definitely worth playing God of War Ragnarok. It's one of the best story games of the entire god of War series. The graphics and detailing are good, but it would be better if the game also supported ray tracing, but sadly it's not. This time Santa Monica has much worked on the cinematic scene and new character. There are more than 30 characters in God of War Ragnarok. Which keeps the game enjoyable throughout its entire story. The good thing is that they added a new weapon in this game, too, because I didn't think there could be any new weapon. Moreover, the other is better than the other is better than the n. It is not up to my liking.

The best thing I have been waiting for the entire series is a new protagonist. They have finally made a new character to play which is Atreus. The technique and combat of Atreus are more enjoyable than Kratos ones. The scene where I played Atreus is my favorite scene throughout the game. If you are God of War and own a Ps5 but didn't play this game, there are no means of buying a Ps5. The game is one of the best games of Ps5 and Pc too. So it is worth playing the game.
